Fit to Flatter Dress

Quite often you may find that you can produce a beautifully finished garment, but it doesn’t actually fit comfortably. During wear, you may find you are tugging at the sleeves, pulling down the skirt, hoisting up the top and even try to struggle into ‘magic knickers’ hoping that the dress will fit properly!

Well no more, help is at hand!

Advice, guidance and support are readily available to enable you to achieve that ‘just right fit’. We will analysis your figure type giving you the knowledge on how your figure differs from the average figure that is used as a sizing standard for commercial patterns. Using a commercial fit to flatter pattern you will be measured to compare your figure type against the pattern and learn how to make the necessary adjustments to get that perfect fit.

You will progress to produce a calico toile which will be fitted to you to ensure a perfect fit. At the end of the course you will know exactly why a garment doesn’t fit correctly, and have the knowledge and skills to know where and how to make the necessary adjustments to achieve that perfect fit. Advice on which type of commercial pattern to use will be given at the time of booking the course.

Duration: 1 day

  1. Hi
I live in Morley Leeds and would love to come to one of the classes. I need to know where you are based and what days.
Do you have classes on a weekend?
I can sew the basics but need help in pattern cutting and putting on zips, pockets and waist bands etc.
    Thank you
Look forward to hearing from you soon.
    Harjinder.

    • Hi Harjinder.
The classes take place in either the shop Fine Fabrics in Harrogate or at Gillian’s studio in Roundhay depending on what suits the group. The course calendar shows which courses are on which days but if you don’t see a date that suits I’d suggest ringing/emailing Gillian to see if you can arrange something that suits you better. Her contact information is on the contact us page. She’d love to talk with you further so do get in touch. I hope this helps!
